In a celebration of innovation, skill, and youth empowerment, the Lagos Youth Development Institute (LYDI), in partnership with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), hosted the graduation ceremony of 50 young participants who successfully completed a rigorous training program in Software Development and Data Science.
The event, held in Ikoyi, Lagos, marked a major milestone in LYDI’s mission to equip youth with relevant, future-proof digital skills. Participants were selected from across the three (3) districts of Lagos State, reflecting the diversity, creativity, and ambition of Lagos youth.
The training equipped participants with hands-on knowledge in coding, data analysis, and digital problem-solving — opening new pathways to careers in tech, entrepreneurship, and community-driven innovation.
Present at the ceremony were key stakeholders and dignitaries, including the Director General of LYDI, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, and a representative from the Ministry of Labour’s Migrant Resource Centre (MRC). All commended the participants’ resilience and reaffirmed their commitment to building platforms that enable Nigerian youth to thrive.
“This program was more than a skills acquisition platform — it was a transformational journey. These young people are now positioned to drive change, lead innovation, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s digital future,” — NYCN Lagos Chairman.
Graduates shared heartfelt testimonies of growth, confidence, and exposure, with many describing the experience as life-changing. They now leave the program equipped not only with technical skills but also with networks and the mindset to solve real-world challenges through technology. The intensive training empowered these 50 youths with hands-on knowledge in coding, data analysis, and digital problem-solving — opening new pathways toward tech careers, entrepreneurship, and community impact.
With this graduation, LYDI and GIZ reinforce their joint vision — a Lagos where young people are not just job seekers, but solution providers, tech creators, and empowered citizens.
